Capturing Fall Colors: Our Autumn Painting Session

Today at Victoria'SmART STUDIO, our students took on a beautiful challenge: painting autumn. As the Los Angeles weather shifts into cooler days, there's no better time to explore the rich colors of fall through art.

Our students worked with warm palettes—oranges, deep reds, golden yellows, and browns—to capture trees in their seasonal transformation. Whether they were layering acrylics or blending watercolors, each artist brought their own interpretation of fall to the canvas. Some focused on close-up details of leaves, while others painted sweeping landscape scenes with rolling hills.

Techniques and Materials

We encouraged students to experiment with different approaches: dabbing, dry brushing, and wet-on-wet techniques to create texture and movement in their foliage. It's amazing how a single painting can convey the feeling of walking through a rustling pile of fallen leaves.

What we love about seasonal themes is that they give students a personal connection to their work. Even in Southern California, autumn is a shift we can all feel and appreciate. By the end of class, the studio walls were glowing with warm autumn hues—a beautiful reminder that fall doesn't need to wait for cooler climates.
